Born in Sydney, Australia. Plein air painter Michael Braden travels both Australia and overseas painting on location. Michael started his career as a sign writer in Darwin where he also studied Fine Art at Darwin College (now Charles Darwin University). Michael then moved back to Sydney to work for Australias’ oldest and most esteemed sign shop,  Althouse & Geiger (est. 1875).

After being invited to join the Signwriters’ Guild of Australia he met fellow guild member and Alice Bale Award winner, Kieth Dewell who encouraged him to participate in life drawing classes at Julian Ashton Art School where Keith was tutoring.

Since then Michael has been tutored and inspired by some of Australia’s leading painters.
